Quiet, efficient and super effective filtering!
I waited some time to review as I wanted sufficient time to see how the filter performed in my tank (Freshwater with Tetras/Cory catfish). I replaced an Aqueon filter that was quite old (pushing 10 years) and was always noisy/rattly (hang-on-back style). I tried to get the latest version of it as a replacement, but it was noisier then my old one! The main thing I was looking for was something that was as quiet as possible. My tank isn’t super large (15 Gallons) so it didn’t make sense to use huge and expensive canister filters. After research, I found submersible filters might fit the bill for my use case.I have an “odd” size of tank. It is a column style so is deeper then it is wide. I’m able to nestle this down pretty far under the surface which allows it to be super quiet. When I got it in the right spot, all I can hear is a low level hum. Now, my bubbler makes much more noise which before, it was opposite. What I didn’t expect is how efficient this filter is. I waited some time to see how it performed and after quite a long time, I see no algae! This is something that I’d always see after just a short time. I’m amazed at the efficiency of this little filter! I’m VERY please! With the long warranty, I expect it to last quite a long time.I love the functionality of the filter. The magnet attachment is AWESOME and I wish all products (heaters, etc) had this sort of setup. Suction cups always fall off and deteriorate, so this keeps things a lot cleaner. If it was suction cups, I’d expect to be constantly adjusting it like I do my heater. Once I put this in the right spot, I never adjusted it again. I love the block filter idea where it comes apart easily and just snaps back in place. This makes changing/cleaning the sponge filters quite easy. I’ve yet to have to clean it out, but when I do, I know it will be easy. The only question is when I need to replace these little sponges how expensive it will be/availability. I don’t expect to have to replace them for some time though. My first foray into Sicce as a brand and based on my experience, I’m looking for other products from them. Smartly engineered, great quality and reasonably priced. I don’t mind paying a bit more for a better brand and Sicce is only a bit above other brands in comparable price. Don’t hesitate to pick this one up for your tank!

Works great, small, discreet, secure
This is such a great filter! Its small enough to fit in well to the aquarium without taking up a lot of aquascaping room. It is black and the background of my tank is as well so it blends in and is barely even noticeable. It is powerful and has a slide switch on it to increase or decrease the flow for your tank and your occupants preferred rate. I have a fully planted tank and the water quality is much cleaner now than it was with just a sponge filter. It was easy to put together and I love the fact that it uses magnets to stick to the wall instead of suction cups that inevitably fail. The noise even with the air pipe part on it is minimal at best, much less noise than the air pump that is for sure. I haven’t had to clean it yet as I am still seeding it however, I do believe the functionality of cleaning it will be much easier than cleaning out the sponge filters. I also love the directional attachments that are included to adjust the waterflow where you want it.

Space saver.
I really do love this filter. It is nice and compact and my tank is very clean just like my old over side filter. The only downside side is that it doesn’t filter as quickly as my over side filter if a dirt cloud is formed causing the tank to go a little darker in color. Never the less the water becomes clear just a little slower.

so far, fantastic!
ive had an over the back filter for as long as ive had these tanks. the monthly changing of the filters is a pain but you deal with it. my main problem is the NOISE. these tanks are in my bedroom so i cant have loud rattling noise, as the aqueon filter i had was doing. the tube part just sounded like hell sometimes, randomly. it just started vibrating against the filter and i had to futz with it to get it to stop. this is a lot of fun at 1am. and 4am. its fun to come home from working all day to hear it doing that, potentially for hours? annoying fish and cats alike. i decided to take a chance on an underwater filter. i wanted SILENCE. i wanted EASY. but ive never used this kind of filter before. i only have a 20 gallon tank (and a 10 gallon next to it) so i had to find one small enough to not turn my tank into a whirlpool. i got this 3 stage filter meant for my size tank. and within a day that water is crystal clear! its hard to see in the pics because of the reflections but holy heck. my water wasnt cloudy before but removing the old filter and fixing the tank up to cover the spaces needed for it kicked up sediment. it has a gentle woosh of water across the top, as i fixed it to the left side of the tank. i wish the instructions were a bit more detailed as it comes with extra parts i wasnt sure how to use. the box gave me more info than the instructions but obviously i figured it out. looks like it will be very easy to clean and replace these sponges, and far less work. i have one lab cichlid in that tank, one algae eater, and one snail. theyre all happy with it too. im considering getting a second filter for the other tank!also i cannot stress enough how silent this filter is. seriously you hear nothing. it installed in minutes. worth the money.
