My African grey likes this mix..he enjoys picking through and finding new things to try..I use it as a mix with his pellets and fresh foods he gets..He seems to enjoy the variety of things that are in this mix.

It’s alright but for an African Grey it should have some bigger pieces in it. I do however mix with other foods. It’s hard to find a food that meets all your expectations

Excellent Food–Preferred By Our Parrots
As long-time owners of an African Grey Parrot and also a Macaw, we have used a variety of foods for our birds. We have always tried to find good value, but not at the expense of poor quality, or food that our birds don’t seem to relish. Over years, we’ve tried many different food blends, but after finding and first using the Volkman Avian Science Foods some three years ago, we have used no other blended food. Our African Grey gets a combination of this African Grey food and sunflower seeds, and our Macaw gets a combination of the the Volkman Macaw food and pistachios. Both birds enjoy the food and maintain great appearance and health.This is not inexpensive food–and at times it can be limited supply. We have used three different suppliers over time (including Amazon), because it is not always consistently in stock at all places. I would welcome a little lower price–more in line with other more common foods–but they simply don’t match the quality or are as well-liked by our birds, so I pony up the money to buy the Volkman. I have found this food to be consistently fresh and the same high-quality blend, sack after sack. All-in-all, based on our experience I can highly recommend this food for your parrots; I think it’s worth the extra challenge and cost to locate and buy.

Poppy is excited to eat again
Fortunately or not, my Parrot loves this food to the exclusion of his pellet food. He was plucking his chest for months before I decided to add Volkmans to his diet. He stopped plucking. It’s anyone’s guess.

I buy this brand often for my flock. This is the first time my order came in one big bag and that’s the only thing wrong. It’s always come in two bags before that. Makes it easier to store and handle.
