Birds LOVE these seeds, and you cannot beat this super low price on this 25 lb bag! EXCELLENT!
I got this 25 lb bag of black oil sunflower wild bird seed for only $15/98! FAB price her on Amazon! I have paid this same amount for much smaller bags on Amazon before (5 lb bags, 8 lbs, etc). What a super find for this HUGE bag! The birds all seem to love it! As long as the price remains this low, I will always buy my black oil sunflower seeds from Wagner on Amazon! They seem very fresh and it gets a ton of birds to my feeders each day, all day long! The only drawback is that where the smaller Wagner seed bags had a great velcro closure, this huge 25 lb does not. I wish they would add one, as it really helps to keep the seeds fresh for a longer period, and it avoids accidental spills.Originally in our feeders, I went with only striped sunflower seeds (which cardinals and bluejays are said to like, and house sparrows are not supposed to like at all), plus I went with safflower seeds (which cardinals are said to LOVE, and which house sparrows are supposed to dislike, as well as are the squirrels). WRONG! The house sparrows either ate the safflower, or they would kick them down to the ground, trying to get to the other seeds in the mix (namely the black oil sunflower ones). The squirrels LOVED finding and eating the safflower seeds that fell on the ground. The cardinals, on the other hand, seemed to hate the safflower seeds. They would eat for a few seconds, and then leave. As for the striped sunflower seeds? Well, the bluejays weren’t thrilled. They only ate them when all of the peanuts in shell were gone. lol The cardinals didn’t care for the striped sunflower seeds at all. ugh The sparrows were too busy kicking around the safflower to really pay attention to the striped ones. The only birds that loved the striped sunflower seeds were the fat doves. They loved to sit on them in the tray feeder! lol When they flew away, a trail of striped sunflower seeds would fall to the ground, which of course the squirrels LOVED to munch on. Wow, what an ecosystem I had going — but I was not attracting the birds I wanted most: Cardinals and Blue Jays. I finally gave up and gave in to giving all of the birds what they wanted — Black Oil Sunflower Seeds! Everyone seems happy now: Cardinals, Purple Finches, Doves, Squirrels, Crows, and an array of other birds. They all visit the bird feeders many times each day. I love watching them. It’s especially funny as we have one feisty squirrel who plays “bouncer”, and will run off the other squirrels and doves when he feels there are too many around. lol Everyone seems happier now that the black sunflower seeds are the main seed on the menu. The Blue Jays and Titmice, however, seem to love only the peanuts. 🙂 And the cutie pie goldfinches (and purple finches) are happy that they get their thistle seed all to themselves.

Bird food and mulch, all in one product!
This winter I switched from a seed mix to these sunflower seeds. The squirrels and all of the birds love these except for the doves. I’m okay with that because the doves would sometimes crash into my windows when startled. There are a lot of seed hulls left behind, but I just use my leaf blower to send them into my flower bed for mulch.

    Excellent price, reputable brans
Ive been buying Wagners Gourmet Songbird mix for some time and recently the product went out of stock (again) so I decided to look for another comparable product. I found this and to my utter amazement and surprise, am paying much less for equally high quality bird food! I will say the songbird mix does have more variety than this product which comprises solely black oil sunflower seed. But honestly, given how many birds will eat this seed versus some others, I don’t think I can go wrong. But for the true test, I will see how my wild friends like it. I’ll update my review once I have a chance to see them feed.

Good price; birds happy; too many stems
I don’t know about the process of separating seeds from stems, grass and chaff, but the two bags I purchased this time had far too much of the debris in with the seeds. The seeds are a good size, and the birds love them, but the sticks clog up my feeders, so depending on how you feed, it might be a problem for others. I’ve bought this brand before and don’t remember it being this full of harvest debris. Maybe it was a fluke.

    Absolutely the Best!
Quality product through and through. Seeds intact. No sticks, stems, etc. Love the carrying handle…nice, convenient manufacturer’s touch. Birds’ favorite.

    Much Improved
I have ordered this item at least five times in the last year. I was getting very disappointed with the amount of wood chips in the bag. I almost stopped ordering it. The last bag I got is absolutely perfect. I believe they started filtering the seeds a lot better you won’t be disappointed. The amount of birds I attract with this is incredible, but it was the amount of wood chips with the seeds that disappointed me. I kept buying it because the birds really like it.

Very pleased with the amount of seed
I purchased these black sunflower seeds to fill a specific feeder in my yard to attract cardinals. They are native to the area, but seldom visited my traditional feeders. I had seen some of the reviews that talked about this seed having lots of ‘mulch’ or non-seed product in it. Either they had a bad batch, or I had a good batch, because I didn’t have any issues at all. The seed I received was pretty much all black sunflower seeds. I purchased his product with some trepidation because of the reviews, but overall I am extremely satisfied with the results. It came on-time and as expected. The bag appears to be very strong and has held up well to sitting in my garage the past three months (I purchased it over the winter). The seed is average size, not quite as big as the sunflowers I grow in my garden, but what I would expect from all blacks sunflower seeds. The birds also seem to like it. I’m pleased to report that I have had numerous cardinals at the feeder, and have had to refill the feeder multiple times in response to their appetite. I will be purchasing this again next fall so my birds have plenty of food for winter.
